Prof. Dario Compagnone, Vice-Rector of the University of Teramo, Visited Tbilisi State University within the Erasmus+ Mobility Programme

Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University hosted Prof. Dario Compagnone from the University of Teramo, Italy, within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme, Key Action 1 – Mobility of Higher Education Students and Staff.

The visit aimed to strengthen academic cooperation between Tbilisi State University and the University of Teramo, promote international exchange in higher education, and support the professional development of students and academic staff in the fields of biotechnology, biology, chemistry, analytical sciences, and biosensor technologies.

During the visit, Prof. Compagnone delivered a series of lectures and seminars for MSc and PhD students of the Division of Biotechnology, the Department of Biology, and the Department of Chemistry. The academic programme included lectures on advanced analytical and biosensing technologies, with special emphasis on metal nanoparticle-based assays, smartphone-based detection systems, ultra-low-cost electrochemical biosensors, surface design and assembling, and the application of liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry for targeted, semi-untargeted, and untargeted analysis.

In addition to the academic programme at TSU, the visit also included an institutional visit to Caucasus International University, as well as cultural activities introducing the guest to Georgia's historical and cultural heritage.

The visit of Prof. Dario Compagnone contributed to the internationalization of teaching and research at TSU and created valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange, academic networking, and future cooperation between Georgian and Italian universities. The lectures and seminars were particularly important for young researchers, as they provided insight into modern analytical technologies and their applications in biotechnology, chemistry, food analysis, environmental monitoring, and biomedical research.

TSU highly values such international academic mobility initiatives, which support the integration of Georgian higher education into the European academic and research area.
