DINARA-WELWET: National Workshop on Wildlife Conservation and Youth Capacity Building
On 24 April 2026, a national workshop was held in Tbilisi, organized by the Georgian Biotechnology Association (GeBA) and supported by Tbilisi State University, as part of the DINARA-WELWET project.
The workshop brought together young specialists, field experts, and youth work professionals from institutions including the National Forestry Agency, the State Laboratory of Agriculture, the National Center of Disease Control, Tbilisi State University, the Agricultural University of Georgia, and Sokhumi State University.
The programme covered four thematic sessions: sector challenges and opportunities in biosecurity and ecosystem restoration; digital and technological needs in conservation practice (AI, VR, and data tools); skills and competence gaps in wildlife conservation and biodiversity monitoring; and career pathways and employability in green sectors. Group working sessions focused on practical training design and the structure of Youth Research Teams.
The event is part of an international transnational initiative implemented jointly with partner countries. Its aim is to identify skills gaps, assess youth employability barriers, and develop evidence-based training tools grounded in the One Health approach.
